Dr. Brenda D. Uslin
B.S., Penn State University, 1982
D.V.M., School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, 1986
Dr Brenda D. Uslin grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. When she was five, a female veterinarian came to treat the family cows. She knew right then that was what she wanted to do when she grew up. And she followed her dream, graduating with her D.V.M. in 1986.
Plans to live and practice at the sea shore were side tracked when Dr. Uslin stopped in Lancaster to visit her brother and do some "practice" interviewing. She stopped to see Dr. Gemmill even though he was advertising for a more experienced person. He hired her right out of Vet School and she has been with him ever since. A year later a client fixed her up with her future husband, Hank, and they were married in 1989.
The Uslins have 2 teen age daughters, Lindsey and Taylor, and 11 year old Matthew. They share their home with Aspen, a Weimeraner and Lucy, a Shih-Tsu; 5 cats - Gracie, Mubai and Leo who live indoors, and cousin Vinney (just plain mean) and Boo (afraid of the world) who live out doors. Rabbits Floppy Jane and Thumper hop unfettered in the garden while the younger bunny, Soloman, shares a cage with Piggy (a Guiney Pig that looks like a ground hog.)
And, in her spare time, Dr. Uslin took up the cello six years ago and currently plays in a group at church.
She describes WLAH as a true family practice; "the clients are family and my co-workers are family. I'm seeing a 3rd generation of pets with many clients."
