Dr. Valerie L. Jordan

B.S., Rhodes College, 1988
D.V.M., University Of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, 1993

Dr. Valerie Jordan grew up in Tennessee. Her love of science and fascination with the workings of the body led her toward a career in human medicine. But in college she began to question that decision. She considered herself shy and introverted and felt a real connection with animals. Not until time to apply for Medical School did she make the final decision to pursue veterinary medicine.

Upon graduation with a D.V.M in 1993, she was working in Charleston, SC when she met TJ Jordan at a wedding in New York City. They married and settled in Lancaster, TJ's home town. In her job search she met Dr. Gemmill, but there wasn't a position open at the time. The two kept in touch while she worked near Reading. In 1996 a position opened and Dr. Jordan came to WLAH.

TJ and Valerie are kept busy raising their children, Joey and Savannah. They share their home with Hans, WLAH's retired house cat, and a hamster named Daisy. What little spare time there is, she can be found reading, walking and enjoying the outdoors.

Over the years Dr. Jordan learned that, whether treating humans or animals, good doctors are all people persons. Today she genuinely enjoys time spent with clients, but finds her time in surgery is when she is reenergized.

"WLAH is a comfortable, flexible and easy going place to be," says Dr. Jordan. "Family needs are taken into consideration. We have autonomy yet we are all there for each other."
